Chapter 1:
"Wake up!" a harsh voice yelled. He rattled on the bars of the jail cell. The prisoner inside woke up. He was groggy, and stood up. "What do you want?" he asked the guard, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "Here's your damn food." the guard said spitefully. "Oh I get food in this joint?" the prisoner asked. "Yeah..." the prison guard said, looking at the inmate's tag. "Carth. We feed you here. Not that great, but better than rats." he chuckled harshly. Carth had short brown hair, and muddy brown eyes. He stood about 6 foot 3 inches, and weighed about 170 pounds. Carth was muscular, and was a Travia Doctor, but a violent one at that. Carth frowned at him. He eyed the keys and pistol the man held on his belt. He reached for his tray of food, and took it into his cell. Carth began to eat. The prison guard turned around, and Carth sprung. He grabbed the man by the neck, and pulled him into the jail cell's bars. Carth had suffocated the guard. He reached for the keys on the man's belt, and took them. He used the keys to unlock the cell door, and pushed it open. Carth smiled to himself. “Too easy.” He thought. He reached down and took the pistol from the man’s belt. Carth frowned. “A Raptor 50?” he asked himself. “Better than nothing.” Carth shrugged. Carth moved slowly and stealthily towards the stairs to his left. He saw other prisoners, but they were not Travia, they were criminals. Carth was the only one in his squad stupid enough to fall for the Axium trap. “Get over here, Carth!” a loud voice yelled. Carth looked up, and jogged over to the man who had called him. It was his squad leader, Ansen. “What is it?” Carth asked. Ansen replied, “I need you to go out there and find Sam. She’s been hit by Axium fire.” Carth nodded. “I’m on it.” He said. Carth exited the bunker where he and his squad had been hiding. “This is gonna be tough.” He thought. “I don’t even know where she is.” He drew his dagger, and began to dash around the deserted town. Carth ran on the side of a wall, and flipped off with ease. He continued dashing towards the alley, when suddenly, Carth heard a cry of pain. “Sam!” Carth thought eagerly. He ran towards the sight of the noise, and then, BAM! Carth had been hit by an Axium Gun Knight’s grenade. He had been just outside the blast radius, so it wasn’t that bad, but he was knocked cold. The Travia Doctor ran down the stairs, and hung a left. He pushed open the door, then walked through a brief hallway, then took another a left. Carth ran down the corridor, hoping to escape from the Axium guards. He drew his Raptor 50, and tumbled out the door. Carth was in a room filled with tables turned around in odd ways, and there were two guards on the opposite end of the room. “Crap.” He muttered. One guard turned around, and spotted him. “A prisoner is escaping!!!” he shouted. “Detain him!” the second guard yelled as he pulled an alarm on the wall. Carth fired at the first guard, and ducked behind a table. He drew his dagger, and dashed to the right side of the room. The Doctor ran on the side of the wall, Raptor 50 blazing. He took out the first guard, landed, drew his dagger, and stabbed the second. Carth turned around, looking anxiously for an exit. He saw a door behind him, and opened it. He walked down a few stairs, then turned right. A lone guard was standing there, gun drawn. “Gotcha.” The guard said smugly. “Wrong.” Carth said, and thrust himself and the dagger into the man, knocking him down. “Buh-bye.” Carth said, and fired three shots into the Axium guard’s heart. Carth opened the door to his left, and ran down the stairs, into a sewer. “My escape route.” He murmured. TO BE CONTINUED!
